Income Acheivement Gap Almost Twice as Large as Black and White Acheivement Gap

The article discusses the change in the comparison of the black and white achievement gap to the income achievement gap. Fifty years ago, the black and white achievement gap was one and a half times wider than the income achievement gap. However, the situation is reverse now that the income achievement gap is twice as large as the black and white achievement gap. This means that the difference in the standardized test results of children from families of the top 10 percentile of income distribution compared to the children from the 90 percentile of income distribution is larger than the difference in achievement between blacks and whites.
