Why Germany Needs the Euro

All the talk in class about currency and floating exchange rates has me thinking, and that thinking led me to this article about the Eurozone and its 10-year old Euro. Recent debate has surfaced surrounding the health of this institution, and the possibility of shedding the weaker members who have neglected their financial obligations (namely Greece), in favor of strong members of the EU growing closer. The implications of such a move are numerous, but the article makes an interesting point in claiming that EU powerhouse Germany's success actually relies on a weakened currency.
