Mapping Migration

http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2011/11/diasporas

This article discusses the migration trends of Chinese and Indian Immigrants. In class we talked about reasons for migration such as decreasing cost of travel and varying economic situations at home. This article talks about the fact that an increased number of inhabitants of China and India are migrating because technology and social media allow them to stay connected with those at home. We must consider what kinds of immigrants these are. Is this factor causing positive or negative immigrant stock?? It is feasible to assume a positive correlation due to the technology based reasoning for the move, but further exploration is necessary.
