Atkeson and Simon, Jr. believe recent volatility in bank stocks may be a sign that our economy may face another credit crisis and recession next year. Volatility of bank stock prices is caused by uncertainty in investors. Uncertainty can lead to fear, which can in turn lead to panic, as it did in the Great Depression and in 2008-2009.
